At the airport about to head to Egypt to shoot the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh. Should be an amazing shoot. Will be there a week (minus the 36 hours each way it takes to get there). Will try to post during the shoot.

One of the hardest parts of traveling constantly is the lack of time you have to sit at a proper workstation and do good post production work. I love my MacBook Pro but there is no substitute for a giant monitor that is properly calibrated, a big ol Mac Pro, and a Wacom tablet. Well this week I got that and the result was finally finishing the post on the St Regis Punta Mita Shoot. If you have been following the blog posts about the shoot it was a pretty amazing week of shooting so I will warn you that the gallery is a big one. Enjoy
Here we go again, another video from my vacation a few weeks ago in New Mexico. I posted earlier about our side trip to the VLA (pics, video) and now a little teaser from White Sands. When we finally got to White Sands it was very late in the day. We rushed out to the dunes in hopes of catching the sunset. There was a catch though, 40+mph gusts of wind. Anyone who shoots for a living can tell you that wind gusts and sunset shots (read:long exposures) dont mix. Either way we had a great time on the dunes and fortunately the next day the wind calmed down. Be sure to turn your speakers on for the video to hear how intense the wind was. Enjoy the video and be sure to check out some of the shots from the shoot as well here.

What better way to spend a cloudy Saturday afternoon then to do some much needed blog posts. Let’s start the day off with a behind the lens video from my recent and much needed vacation to New Mexico. My wife and I made a stop at the VLA on our way down to White Sands and I made a little video of the crazyness that is the VLA. To see some shots check out my earlier post. Enjoy

Added some new images tonight to my portfolio site. Be sure to check out the hospitality:beach section for new shots from the St Regis Punta Mita I shot back in March. I’ve also switched up the homepage images to all hospitality destinations to celebrate the new images. Take a look and tell me what you think, blakemarvin.com.
While heading out to White Sands last weekend we made a stop at the VLA in New Mexico. If you thought White Sands was amazing/strange looking, then wait till you see the VLA. The short history of the VLA is that back in the 70’s/80’s they built an array of 27 radio antenna’s setup in a Y configuration to create images of space (world’s simplest explanation of a very complicated process). The antennas are 82 feet tall (think 8 story tall building!). It is completely disorienting as you get closer to each on realizing how huge they are. For more on the VLA check out their site. Enjoy some of the images that I’m working on.
Thought I would share some shots from white sands. Some candid some proper shots. Been a really busy week so I haven’t had a chance to do as much work on them as I would like. The candid shot from the earlier post is from my lovely wife (seen in this post from an infamous self portrait (which is much more difficult with a big canon 1ds mark 3 opposed to a point and shoot))
Took a much needed vacation this weekend after spending all of march on the road. I spent the weekend shooting (funny how vacations include shooting) in White Sands, New Mexico. Truly a spectacular place, 275 square miles of pure white gypsum sand dunes. Heading back to Albuquerque to catch a flight. will post shots from this weekend later this week including a couple of videos. Until then enjoy this shot of me at work.
In Glendale Arizona shooting the Camelback Ranch Spring Training Complex for the LA Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. This place is a monster, it has more baseball fields than I have ever seen in my entire life. It’s about 150 acres dedicated entirely to baseball. Pretty impressive place. While heading over to another vantage point yesterday morning on my trusty golf cart I thought I would do a different take on the behind the lens videos. I’ve also posted a couple of shots from the morning shoot showing the main stadium where the games are played as well as the White Sox’s clubhouse. Enjoy
